Replacing the bathroom window

I need both a header and a tempered glass window in the bathroom.

That scaffolding on wheels is super useful since I can just roll it around to wherever I need it.  When I was first buying the tempered windows I tried to get an off-the-shelf one, and the closest dimesion was a bit shorter and wider than the old one.  That ended up not working out, but I guess when I ordered this one I had forgotten about that and still got that size.  You would think something that is commonly required by building code would be easy to get in a store like Lowe's or Home Depot, but apparently not.

This whole process went way faster than I expected, so I guess now I have an extra day to clean up my upstairs...

Replacing that bedroom window

Now on to the window.  The city building inspector wants all of the windows to have headers, which means I have to reframe all of them, and since I'm reframing them, I might as well replace them even though they are modern double pane windows since they were beat to hell by the tenants.

I made it mostly mirror the front windows, and also be the same size, so now this one is longer than the old one.

It seemed pretty stupid to do all this covering for one night, but I'm really glad I did with the storm that night.

Got the window installed the next day.

And all the housewrap on too.

Definitely getting more farm bonfire wood too.

Replacing the balcony door

I originally wanted to finish up the cabinetry, but it's way more time consuming than I thought, and I need to get the permanent roof under the balcony along with siding.  First thing to do is pull off the asbestos siding and replace that door.  I have to reframe the door since the permanent one isn't oddly wide for being off of a bedroom.

I didn't like the idea of leaving a gaping hole in house overnight, so I put the old door back over it.

Hey the new one fits.

It took many hours of shimming to get the door so it all works the way it's supposed to, but it was definitely worth it.

I'm just using the door knob and dead bolt from the other door.  Finished just in time for the rain too.

Rubber roofing

Finally time to actually start on the rubber roof.  That plastic I put down held up surprisingly well for how long it was there. Had to put ...
